Australian Computer Society (ACS)


The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the professional society for Information & Communications Technology (ICT) graduates. The ACS has a large and active membership from all levels of the ICT industry and acts as the public voice of the ICT profession and the guardian of professional ethics and standards in the industry.

Australasian Computer Music Association


The Australasian Computer Music Association was founded in 1989. The organisation provides a forum for new compositions, information sharing, and research about music technology and computer music, principally throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Australasian Computer Music Association is a community of composers, performers, teachers and technologists who have an interest in, and are making or supporting music making with computers.

Ausfilm


Ausfilm is a representative body for the Australian film, television and commercial industry, promoting Australia worldwide as a destination for screen production. It provides information to overseas producers about locations, cast and crew, studios, technicians and creative talent, as well as government regulations, tax incentives and legal and financial issues. Ausfilm is a collaboration of over 60 private sector companies, Australia's seven state film agencies, Austrade and the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA).

Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (AEEMA)


AEEMA is an industry association representing local and international companies in the electronics, information and communication technologies (ICT) and electrical manufacturing industries. AEEMA focus is on promoting and strengthening the competitive position of its represented industries.

Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA)


AIIA is an industry association with close to 500 member companies. It provides advice on the strategic direction of the ICT industry, influences public policy, engages industry stakeholders and provides member companies with business productivity tools, advisory services and market intelligence to accelerate their business growth.

Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA)


Founded in 1992, AIMIA represents the Interactive Media and Digital Content sectors in Australia. AIMIA are devoted to the commercial development of the industry as a whole and to the commercial development of the distinct AIMIA members and AIMIA member groups that comprise the Interactive Media and Digital Sectors.

Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA)


Founded in 1994 AMTA seeks to promote a socially, environmentally and financially responsible and successful mobile telecommunications industry in Australia. It provides it’s members with industry development advice and consultation; networking opportunities; and, a forum for providing policy advice to government.

Australian Telecommunications User Group (ATUG)


ATUG works to be regarded by business users of information and communications (metro, regional and rural) as the best members’ organisation in Australia to provide: an independent, end-user view on telecoms policy and service issues and well researched information to members on developments in telecoms policy and services

Game Developers' Association Australia (GDAA)


The Game Developers’ Association of Australia (GDAA) was formed in December 1999 and launched at the inaugural Australian Game Developers’ Conference (AGDC) in Sydney. The GDAA was created by leading developers to increase the profile of the Australian interactive game industry both domestically and internationally.

Intelligent Transport Systems Australia (ITSA)


Established in 1992, Intelligent Transport Systems Australia (ITS Australia) is Australia’s only organisation focused on facilitating the development and deployment of advanced technologies across all modes of transport; air, sea, road and rail. ITS Australia is an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation representing members of the ITS Industry including government, consumer organisations and academia.

Internet Society of Australia (ISA)


The Internet Society of Australia, ISOC-AU, was founded in 1996. It is a non-profit, user-focused organisation which promotes development of the Internet in Australia to benefit the whole community, including business, academic, professional, and private Internet users.

Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA)


SPAA is the industry association of the Australian independent film, television and commercials production industry which represents the interests of a majority of Australian producers on issues which affect the business of filmmaking. Priorities are industrial relations, commercial issues, government policy, industry promotion and management of the annual SPAA Conference.

Who's Who in R&D

National ICT Australia (NICTA)


NICTA was established in 2002 as Australia's premier ICT research body. The organisation employs over 300 researchers and 200 PhD students across 16 research programs of strategic importance to Australia.. It is a national organisation with five laboratories in four cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. NICTA works in close collaboration with industry and other research institutions to solve problems and make breakthroughs in ICT which can be put to use for the publics benefit.

CSIRO ICT Centre


Established in 1926, CSIRO is Australia's leading publicly funded research agency, and one of the largest and most diverse research organisations in the world. The CSIRO ICT Centre has a staff of 170 an annual budget of A$48 million, the Centre specialises in communication networks, information security and privacy, information systems, robotics, sensors and intelligent environments and risk management and decision support systems. It works with a range of international R&D partners including Nortel Networks, Amcom Communications and Boeing.

Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO)


Formed in 1974 the purpose of DSTO is to apply science and technology to enhance the capabilities of Australia's defence force. DSTO is Australia's leading agency responsible for managing the countries science and technology priorities for defence and domestic security. DSTO employs more than 2300 personnel, and has a budget of A$440M p.a. In 2005-06, DSTO spent A$66.8M sourcing research, development and technical support from external organisations.

Defence Science Access Network (DSAN)


To encourage collaboration with industry and further the application of DSTO research, DSAN has been established. As a result of DSAN, DSTO participates in 7 Centres of Excellence programs with Australia's leading Universities, has over 60 agreements licensing technology to industry,11 industry alliances, partnerships in Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs), and close ties with US, UK, Canada and New Zealand Defence agencies.
