How Austrade can help in Iran

Our office is set up to provide services to both Australian and Iranian companies which are interested in developing the following trade and investment relationships:

  • The direct export of merchandise goods and services from Australia to Iran.
  • The setting up of agency representation or appointment of distributors by Australian companies in Iran.
  • Two-way foreign direct investment (FDI) by Australian and Iranian companies, including the establishment of joint ventures.

We do not provide services for Iranian companies who are interested only in exporting to Australia. Please refer to 'Exporting to Australia' below.

Public holidays and weekends

Our office is closed on Friday and Saturday for our weekend. The official weekend observed by Iranian Government offices is Thursday and Friday. Many private companies also work half-day on Thursday.

Business visas for Iran

The PDF download attachment provides details on the procedure for obtaining business visas for Iran. Fifteen-day tourist visas were previously available on arrival in Iran for holders of Australian passports arriving as a bona fide tourist. However, this facility was withdrawn in August 2006. If you have any further specific enquiries on visas for Iran please contact: Tehran@austrade.gov.au

Visas and immigration to Australia

Austrade is not responsible for the issuing of visas for travel to Australia by Iranian nationals.  However, we may be required to vouch for the bona fides of Australian business relationships with Iranian business contacts that you wish to invite to Australia. For further information please contact: Tehran@austrade.gov.au
